Afro-Latino Culture Takes Center Stage in Los Angeles
What started with 20 people in a backyard has grown into an event expected to welcome more than 2,000 attendees. The Fourth Annual Afro-Latino Culture Fest, described by organizers as the only festival of its kind on the West Coast, celebrates Afro-Latino identity, heritage, and culture.
The festival brings together Afro-Latino communities with roots in Puerto Rico, Cuba, Panama, and other parts of Latin America and the Caribbean. The event features live performances, educational programming, food vendors, music, dancing, art, and opportunities for community and business connections.
Organizers say the festival provides a dedicated space for Afro-Latinos to celebrate their African and Latin American heritage while highlighting their historical and cultural contributions. It also addresses the importance of representation for people who identify as both Black and Latino.
With more than 40,000 Afro-Latinos living in the Los Angeles area, the festival offers attendees an opportunity to connect through shared cultures and experiences while learning more about the diversity of the broader Latino community.
