From the Beach to the Streets: This Summer Sees the City's First Ever LA Jazz Festival
A new chapter in Los Angeles music history begins this summer. This international, citywide concert series marks the first event of its scale in Los Angeles, building on the city’s rich jazz legacy while following the model of renowned festivals in New Orleans, Montreal, and Montreux.
The festival launched at “The Ink Well,” the historic beach site chosen to honor the human rights roots of jazz. Janelle Monáe, John Legend, Raphael Saadiq, and Charlie Wilson are among the Grammy Award-winning artists and performers from thirteen nations already announced.
From beaches to city streets, performances will take place across Los Angeles in a carnival-style celebration, with 75 percent of tickets available free to the public.
