Local Assistance Center Opened to Assist Those Affected by the 27th Street Incident

On June 30th at approximately 7:30 p.m. there was a major explosion in South Los Angeles due to the detonation of illegal fireworks and improvised explosive devices seized by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Fortunately, there were no deaths, but the explosion did injure 17 people, which included 10 LAPD officers.

In order to support the families affected by this event the City of Los Angeles' Emergency Management Department have opened up a Local Assistance Center (LAC) to serve as  a one-stop shop where individuals, families and business owners impacted by the 27th Street Incident can obtain information on services and assistance from government agencies, utility companies and nonprofits.
