L.A. once again ranks near the top in the 2025 Digital Cities Survey, earning national recognition for its strong use of technology to boost transparency, strengthen cybersecurity, protect privacy, and expand digital equity. The Center for Digital Government highlights cities using innovation to tackle real social challenges, and L.A. continues to stand out.

This year’s awards focus on cities using technology with purpose. Whether the goal is improving safety, or building community trust, the emphasis is on real impact. L.A. has consistently placed in the top three, reflecting the city’s ongoing commitment to delivering modern digital services for all Angelenos.

The latest survey shows that security, automation, and equity continue to guide city technology agendas heading into 2025. The priorities stay consistent, with cybersecurity holding the top spot for the eleventh year as well as AI, Generative AI, and machine learning being top priorities.  Other leading focus areas include business process automation, deeper engagement with residents, disaster recovery and modernizing aging applications.

Under the leadership of ITA General Manager and CIO Ted Ross, the Information Technology Agency supports more than 40 departments across the city. From digital services to data-driven operations, ITA works to improve the government experience for residents, businesses, and visitors.

Winners will be honored at the Digital Cities Awards Dinner during the National League of Cities “City Summit” on November 19, 2025 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
