The Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority opened "L.A. River Recreation Zones" in Elysian Valley and the Sepulveda Basin for the 5th season this summer. Hours are sunrise to sunset, except during and after inclement weather or other adverse conditions.  The L.A. River Recreation Zone provides access to recreate and explore the Los Angeles River with activities including boating, fishing and bird watching.

“Through a collaboration with our partners on the local and federal level, we have created an annual tradition to bring more people to the Los Angeles River,” said Councilmember O’Farrell who represents the Elysian Valley neighborhood where the Glendale Narrows is located. ”This is a great opportunity for Angelenos to get on the water, enjoy the wildlife, experience the river’s potential, and enjoy nature near the birthplace of our great City.”

The River Recreation Zone is managed by the MRCA in coordination with the City of Los Angeles and Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell, the Army Corps of Engineers, and the County of Los Angeles.  The L.A. River Recreation Zones are only open for the season through September, 2017 so visit them this summer and explore what the newly revitalized LA River has to offer!
