The Alternative Pathway for Part-Time/Exempt Employees creates an opportunity for current part-time and exempt City employees to obtain regular, full-time employment with the City of Los Angeles. The program is divided into two phases: 6 months of on-the-job training (Trainee phase), followed by a 6-month probationary period (Assistant phase). After successful completion of the probation period, the individual will then transition into the targeted civil service classification.Please note that the starting salary may vary; however the salary for the 'Trainee' and 'Assistant' classifications are generally equivalent to the salary for the Targeted, Civil Service classification. Salary placement will be calculated in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding and the Administrative Code.
