2025 in Council District 6: A Year in Review
Councilmember Imelda Padilla looks back on a productive year serving Council District 6, which includes Sun Valley, Arleta, Panorama City, Van Nuys, Lake Balboa, and parts of North Hollywood and North Hills East.

One major focus was the Sepulveda Basin. The District led efforts to clear long-term encampments and remove invasive plants. This work was made possible through coordinated leadership and partnerships aimed at improving safety, access, and environmental health.

As a new member of the Metro Board, Councilmember Padilla has been involved in planning for smoother mobility ahead of the Olympic Games, improving signage for visitors, and exploring how Metro-owned land can help address housing and homelessness. The Van Nuys Boulevard East light rail project continued to move forward, along with collaboration on a future Pacoima Metrolink Transfer Station that could help revitalize communities throughout Council District 6.

Throughout the year, the District hosted a range of community events, including the Love of Literacy event with local libraries, mental health and senior health fairs, cultural celebrations such as Día de los Muertos, and wrapping up 2025 with holiday celebrations.
