25 Years Later: How LAFD Heroes Answered the Call on 9/11
On September 11, 2001, members of the Los Angeles Fire Department deployed to New York to help with search and rescue efforts at Ground Zero. Twenty-five years later, LAFD firefighters, city leaders and community members gathered at the Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center in Los Angeles to remember the lives lost and honor the first responders who answered the call.
This commemoration reflects on their courage, the bonds formed in a time of crisis, and the commitment to serve that continues.
Today, LAFD crews answer thousands of emergency calls daily, bringing that same passion and dedication to local neighborhoods. Community leaders emphasized that sticking together remains essential when facing modern challenges. Ultimately, honoring this milestone ensures future generations never forget what true bravery looks like when neighbors step up to protect one another.
