The 818’s Young Artists Are Taking Center Stage
Musicians and artists in the San Fernando Valley often travel “over the hill” for gigs, jam sessions, networking, and creative community—but the 818 has a vibrant arts scene of its own.
“818 Creates: Young Creatives Festival” celebrates the Valley’s talented artists and creates more opportunities for them to connect, collaborate, and showcase their work close to home. At Taxco Theatre, an ongoing immersive gallery features artwork from young artists and local community organizations, along with creative partners from across the San Fernando Valley—including Sun Valley.
With support from the City of Los Angeles, the festival is helping make the arts more accessible in a region that is not always recognized as an arts destination. Creative spaces allow people to explore their identities, experiences, and spirituality while building empathy and meaningful connections with others.
