Boyle Heights Residents and Businesses Share Recovery Challenges
A major warehouse fire that began in Boyle Heights on June 17, 2026, forced nearby businesses to close as smoke and unsafe air spread throughout the neighborhood.

More than a month later, local business owners and residents report ongoing health concerns, lost income, rats, flies, and persistent odors. Council District 14 Councilmember Ysabel Jurado and other City leaders are working to fast-track the cleanup and provide recovery assistance, while affected businesses seek additional support to reopen and bring customers back.
