Celebrating Oshogatsu at the Japanese American National Museum
Oshogatsu is the Japanese New Year, the most important holiday celebrated with family, traditions, and special cuisine.
The Japanese American National Museum located in the Little Tokyo area of Downtown L.A. was the place to be to explore, celebrate, and taste Japanese culture in honor of the New Year.
The celebration continues to uphold the history and culture of Japanese immigrants and present-day Japanese American culture. The event brought together families and people from all walks of life to celebrate culture and community.
Attendees danced to Taiko drums, viewed candy sculptures & tasted sweet treats, and were entertained by performances from local artists and community members. This yearly occasion salutes all things Japanese and is also believed to bring good luck.
