A City United: Protecting L.A.'s Immigrant Communities
L.A. Mayor Karen Bass was joined by fellow councilmembers and community advocates to sign an Executive Directive aimed at strengthening protections for immigrant communities in Los Angeles. The directive is intended to shield the city from what leaders described as harmful federal actions, particularly after federal officials stated their goal was to target “hardened” criminals.

However, fewer than 14% of individuals arrested by ICE in Los Angeles have violent criminal records. In response, the city is committing to steps to ensure that city property and resources are not used in ways that harm immigrant communities, reinforcing Los Angeles’s longstanding stance on protecting its residents.
