One man with gloves, trash bags, and a camera is inspiring residents to help clean Los Angeles.

Every weekday morning, Juan heads out to clean sidewalks and public spaces impacted by littering from residents, illegal dumping, and everyday debris through his growing movement, “Clean LA with Me.” Juan was recently honored by the L.A. City Council for his contribution and dedication to helping better his community. 

When Juan encounters bulky illegally dumped items, he uses the MyLA311 app to report them so City services can be quickly engaged.

Juan believes meaningful change begins at the local level. “Everything can start with us,” he says, “and then we can push everybody else.”
