Community Gathers for the 3rd Annual Emergency Preparedness Fair
Residents came together today for the 3rd Annual Emergency Preparedness Fair, an event designed to help the community get ready for major disasters. With nearly 30 tents on site, attendees learned essential skills such as hands-only CPR, how to use a fire extinguisher, and what to do during earthquakes, fires, and other emergencies.
Vendors and safety experts offered practical, hands-on demonstrations, from building first aid kits to packing a go bag and creating a stay box. Participants also learned how to check smoke detectors, shut off gas lines safely, and recognize early signs of danger during a natural disaster. Many visitors said they had not realized that emergency help might be delayed for hours or even days, making personal preparedness even more important.
The fair also connected residents with clinics, community groups, and other local resources that people often don’t know are available. Organizers encouraged everyone to stop by, learn the basics, and make preparedness a habit. The message of the day was simple: stay ready, stay informed, and prepare together.
