A Day of Firsts: LAPD's Native American Community Police Advisory Board
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) welcomed officers and the public to the Los Angeles Police Academy for it's first Native American Community Police Advisory Board (CPAB) meeting.
CPAB is the first board of this type, and it's purpose is to bridge the gap between the Native American and Indigenous communities with LAPD. Officers will be educated on how to deal with different cultures, foster trust and build partnerships with those that have historically been marginalized.
This Board creates a resource and a platform to give voice to those who have felt unseen and unheard. CPAB also serves to create a sense of pride and identification for Native American and Indigenous officers.
