Día De Los Muertos Celebration at San Fernando Mission Cemetery
The San Fernando Mission Cemetery held its annual Día de los Muertos celebration, an event traditionally organized by local officials and expanded this year through a partnership with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The gathering brought families together to honor loved ones buried at the mission and to observe the cultural practices associated with the holiday.

Attendees noted that the celebration provides an opportunity to connect with family history, as many community members have relatives interred at the cemetery. The event included mariachi performances, cultural activities for children, and a range of traditional elements associated with Día de los Muertos.

Organizers said the celebration serves both as a communal gathering and as a way to highlight shared heritage. Participants described the holiday as a time to remember the lives and contributions of those who have died, reflecting on their presence in family and community history. Others emphasized that the holiday focuses on remembrance rather than mourning, with traditions that use color, food, and music to honor those who have passed.
