Emergency Preparedness Can Build a Powerful Community Response
Preparedness is power and it's better to know what to do in an emergency and not be needed, than to be needed and not know what to do.
That's the guiding principle behind the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training program that provides the knowledge necessary to help during disasters, such as fires or other crises.
Participants learn how to step up as leaders to help guide their community through an emergency. While disasters cannot be stopped, the training aims to lessen their impact and save more lives by providing residents with essential tools and resources.
Being calm and prepared during an emergency allows people to be helpful to family, friends, and neighbors. The training is free to the community and is open to all ages and people from every walk of life.
