Enjoy Miles of Trails and All the Views with a Hike in Griffith Park
Thinking about hiking in Griffith Park? Great choice. With miles of trails, easy access, and incredible views of Los Angeles—even the ocean on a clear day—it’s one of the city’s best outdoor spots.

Before you head out, park rangers and the Los Angeles Fire Department share a few key safety tips:

🥾 Stay on the trail
Stick to designated paths and avoid animal trails to reduce your risk of injury.

🦌 Respect wildlife
Griffith Park is a natural habitat. If you encounter wildlife, keep your distance and do not disturb them.

🐕 Keep pets safe
Dogs should stay on a leash. Be mindful—trail surfaces can get much hotter than grass and may burn their paws.

☀️ Plan ahead
Hike early in the morning or later in the afternoon during warmer months. Bring water, wear sunscreen, and don’t forget a hat—for you and your dog.

🚨 If you get lost, remember STOP
Stay put so others can find you.
Think about your location.
Observe your surroundings and landmarks.
Plan your next steps carefully.
