Groundbreaking for the New Vermont Transit Corridor
Getting across Los Angeles is about to get a whole lot faster. Metro has officially broken ground on the Vermont Transit Corridor, a 12.4-mile rapid transit line designed to transform daily travel through the heart of the city.
The new line directly connects four major rail lines, the B, C, D, and E routes, opening smooth access across the entire county.
Commuters can look forward to 26 modern stations complete with shaded seating, improved sidewalk safety, and faster, more reliable service. The upgrades will shave up to 17 minutes off trips, linking key destinations from Southwest College to Children’s Hospital.
While the line helps prepare the city for the Olympic Games, leaders stress that local riders come first. As crews break ground, Metro invites community voices to keep shaping the project every step of the way, giving Vermont Avenue residents a direct stake in the ride ahead.
