Honoring Heroes: LAFD’s 2025 VALOR Award
Under the lights of Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation hosted the 2025 VALOR Awards, bringing together city leaders, partners, and community members to honor firefighters whose courage defined the past year.

For many honorees, the recognition felt unexpected. They show up to 911 calls focused on serving others, not seeking applause, and the awards highlight the core of the profession: a desire to help and a commitment to protect.

The ceremony carried deeper meaning after the Palisades and Eaton fires pushed firefighters and neighborhoods to their limits. One firefighter recalled racing home to Altadena as flames advanced, helping neighbors evacuate and defending homes with whatever tools were available.

He spent days checking properties for friends and families who had fled, often delivering news that brought relief or heartbreak. Stories like his anchored the night and underscored why the VALOR Awards matter. They honor not only individual bravery but also the role of the LAFD Foundation.
