How LA County is Empowering Women
Los Angeles County is celebrating Women’s History Month by honoring the local heroes who make our neighborhoods stronger. This year, the LA County Commission for Women recognized several outstanding leaders nominated directly by their own community members. These women have spent their careers advancing the health and well-being of others across the region.
The event was a powerful reminder that leadership is about service. From scientists sharing life-saving data to advocates creating their own seats at the table, these honorees are paving the way for the next generation of girls. One leader noted that helping others is the true measure of success, far outweighing any trophy or title.
This year also marks a major milestone: the 50th anniversary of the Commission for Women. To ensure this progress continues, the LA County Board of Supervisors pledged another 50 years of support. Los Angeles remains committed to elevating the voices and achievements of women who were once overlooked or undervalued.
