How LA Metro Plans to Move Millions for the 2028 Olympics
Los Angeles is preparing to host the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, with local leaders focused on keeping residents and visitors moving safely, efficiently and affordably.
To prepare for increased demand, LA Metro tested expanded service during recent major sporting events. According to Metro, the enhanced service supported more than 212,000 bus rides, while ridership on individual match days increased by 41% on the K Line and 23% on the C Line.
Officials are using lessons from these events to plan transit improvements for 2028 while addressing long-standing transportation needs. The goal is to make public transit a safer, more convenient and reliable option for residents, workers and visitors.
City and transportation leaders also hope these improvements will encourage more Angelenos to try public transit. Investments made for the Games are intended to strengthen the regional transportation network and benefit local communities long after 2028.
