Independent Voices Festival Celebrates Local Authors and Zine Culture
The Independent Voices Festival brought together local authors, zinesters, and anyone who loves the written word for a day of creativity and connection.

The event celebrated independent publishing in all its forms, offering workshops, hands-on zine making, and plenty of space for people to trade ideas. Visitors could create their own zines to keep or donate, sit in on poetry sessions, and hear from community members who have carved their own path as published or self-published writers. The spirit of the festival was simple: experiment, express yourself, and let the work reflect how you feel in the moment.

For many independent authors, the creative journey can feel isolating. Unlike writers backed by major publishers, they often move alone without editors, marketers, or publicists. The festival helped ease that pressure by giving them a place to meet peers, share advice, and build a supportive network. It reminded everyone that while independent publishing may be a solo craft, it does not have to be a lonely one.
