Investing in the Community: Council District 1 Year in Review
Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez of Council District 1 reflected on her work this past year, highlighting the more than $1 million invested in food access, rental assistance, and support services for neighborhoods across District 1. The Councilmember said the work will continue into 2026, with a focus on securing new funding and revenue to strengthen city services and reinvest in the community.

A major milestone highlighted was the Encampment Resolution Fund, securing $6 million in State Funding to house people living along the 110 Freeway and the LA River. The first phase has already housed 27 people with permanent leases and wraparound services, with additional phases underway. These are long-term housing solutions are designed to keep people stably housed.

During ongoing immigration raids, Council District 1 stepped in to support families facing lost work and fear. Through rental assistance, food access, and legal referrals, and by upholding the Sanctuary City Ordinance, the goal has been to prevent homelessness and protect community members in this trying time.

Beyond policy, District 1 also invested in joy and connection. From the Lincoln Heights backpack giveaway to Música y Poemas and El Grito, these events reminded residents that community, culture, and joy are forms of resilience.

Councilmember Hernadez reminds Angelenos that Council District 1 is committed to moving forward together and leaving no one behind.
