This L.A. Library Just Got a Sensory-Friendly Transformation
The Wilshire Branch Library has reopened with a more welcoming and inclusive experience for children and teens of all abilities.
New sensory-friendly features include softer lighting, reduced noise, accessible seating, and designated hours for patrons who benefit from a calmer environment. A sensory forecast helps families plan their visits, while portable lights and sensory kits are available for checkout.
The Wilshire Branch Library is the eighth Los Angeles Public Library location to receive these accessibility improvements. More than 40 LAPL branches also offer sensory kits with tools designed to help patrons feel comfortable, supported, and free to be themselves.
From LEGO activities to community events, the library continues to provide a space where young Angelenos can learn, create, and connect.
