LA’s New Firefighters Are Simply the G.O.A.T.
The Sepulveda Basin is getting a fuzzy makeover this week as the city turns to a four-legged solution for fire safety. A hardworking herd of goats has arrived to clear away overgrown brush and weeds before the summer heat turns them into dangerous fuel.
Local leaders and fire officials are thrilled to use "Fire Grazers" for this eco-friendly task. While heavy machinery can be loud and invasive, these goats thrive on steep hillsides that are difficult for humans to reach. Guarded by three protective dogs, the herd spends its days "mowing" through hazardous vegetation with ease.
City officials say this "outside the box" thinking is a win-win for everyone. By eating their way through the basin now, the goats help limit the risk of large fire breakouts later this year. It seems these goats might just become the City’s favorite new employees.
