Light Rail Returns to the San Fernando Valley After 70 Years!
For the first time in 70 years, light rail is officially returning to the San Fernando Valley.
Crews broke ground on the East San Fernando Valley Light Rail Transit Project. The Valley currently has only two rail stops. The $3.9 billion line will run 6.7 miles down Van Nuys Boulevard, adding 11 new stations through Pacoima and Panorama City.
Construction is now underway, with passenger trains expected to start rolling by 2032. Once open, it will deliver a clean, reliable alternative to driving across the Valley.
