Lighting Up the Boyle Heights Neighborhood
Adequate street lighting has been an ongoing issue in Boyle Heights and surrounding areas. Partnering with the LA Bureau of Street Lighting, Councilmember Ysabel Jurado welcomed the public to the 2900th block of E. Whitter Blvd to jumpstart the maintenance and replacement of street lighting in this area.

Concerns about not feeling safe were echoed by residents of this neighborhood, primarily due to the number of street lights that had been inoperative in the past. The community of Boyle Heights has reported more than 1,900 non-functioning street lights, the highest area in the City.

A little over 1 million dollars was allocated to the street lights upgrade project, ensuring a dedicated street crew to get the job done.
