See an Abandoned Vehicle in LA? Call 1-800-ABANDON
Abandoned vehicles can block driveways and walkways, create safety hazards, and affect the quality of life in Los Angeles neighborhoods. A new campaign in South Los Angeles is working to clear abandoned and inoperable vehicles from City streets while improving coordination among City departments.

During Fiscal Year 2025–26, the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) removed 6,661 abandoned vehicles from City streets. The initiative will increase awareness of the City’s reporting tools and help officials respond more efficiently to vehicles that pose safety or environmental hazards, violate parking regulations or meet other established enforcement criteria.

When a vehicle is being used as a dwelling, LADOT works with partner departments to offer outreach and available services to its occupants before towing.

To report an abandoned vehicle in Los Angeles, call 1-800-ABANDON (1-800-222-6366), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. After-hours callers may leave a voicemail.
