Shared Musical Experience Across Ten Parks: The Premiere of Attune
NXT Art Foundation, with the support of DCA, recently hosted in Los Angeles a massive, county-wide musical event. Renowned composer Miguel Atwood-Ferguson premiered "Attune," an ambitious 30-minute composition featuring a 45-piece orchestra and 11 live musicians stationed across ten different local parks.
The performance used high-tech audio links to broadcast ten different parks live at any given moment. These feeds blended together to create a single, unified performance for the entire county. This project aimed to showcase the incredible diversity of Los Angeles through a shared cultural experience.
By turning public parks into a professional stage, the event offered free access to high-quality art for all residents. "Attune" demonstrated how music can effectively link different neighborhoods together. The successful premiere highlights the value of using public spaces for large-scale creative projects.
