Sky-High Aviation Careers at Van Nuys Airport
At the annual Van Nuys Airport Youth Leadership Academy, high school students were introduced to careers in the aviation industry.
The program aims to teach students from the San Fernando Valley about aviation operations, airport leadership, and the various aspects of running an airport. There is a wide range of career paths within aviation that people may not be aware of, including roles such as planners, engineers, community relations specialists, and mechanics.
Student participants joined the program to gain knowledge to share with school aviation clubs or to further their personal goals of having careers in the aviation industry. While currently an annual event, organizers hope to expand the program to occur twice a year.
