South Central Los Angeles kicked off the holiday season with the ninth annual Christmas tree lighting on Broadway, a tradition created in honor of Reverend E. L. Williams. 

This year’s celebration included live music, festive cheer, and the opening of a new community center dedicated to Ambassador Frank Baxter, a longtime and highly regarded Los Angeles resident. Residents, families, and local leaders came together to celebrate unity and the spirit of the season. Many shared what the tradition means to them, calling the tree a symbol of hope, togetherness, and resilience during challenging times.
