Sunset Junction Renamed to Honor Jackie Goldberg’s Legacy
Silver Lake celebrated one of its most influential leaders as Sunset Junction was officially renamed Jackie Goldberg Sunset Junction.
Local officials and community members gathered for the unveiling, honoring Jackie Goldberg’s decades of public service as a councilmember, assemblymember, school board member, and longtime resident dedicated to improving life in Los Angeles.
Speakers highlighted Goldberg’s impact, from authoring the city’s landmark living wage law to co-authoring the domestic partnership law that extended marriage rights to same sex couples. Five new signs for Jackie Goldberg Square now mark her major achievements. Colleagues and educators praised her as a fearless advocate, a champion for the LGBTQ+ community, and a guiding force in the school district. Reflecting on more than 40 years in public office, Goldberg said she was grateful and overwhelmed, noting that the work she helped lead expanded protections, brought communities together, and changed Los Angeles for the better.
