Super Scoopers Take Flight to Defend Southern California
Two Canadair CL-415 Super Scoopers have returned to Van Nuys Airport to help protect Southern California communities during wildfire season. The aircraft support Los Angeles County and may assist neighboring counties through California’s regional mutual-aid system.
For the 33rd consecutive year, the Government of Québec has provided the aircraft, along with experienced pilots and mechanics. The planes give local firefighters a powerful tool from the air, scooping water and delivering it quickly to wildfires.
However, fire officials remind residents that firefighting equipment alone cannot protect every home. Community preparedness and preventive action remain essential to keeping neighborhoods safe.
